Introduction

संस्कृतं भारतीयसंस्कृतेर्मूलम् इति कथ्यते।संस्कृतैतिह्यधारकतया भाषाया अस्याः प्रसारः संस्कृतपरायणैः साधनीयः इति।अतः संस्कृतपरायणशीलाः सन्तः सुभाषचन्द्र–वोस्–सेन्टेनारी-महाविद्यालयस्य संस्कृतविभागस्थिताः सदस्याः संस्कृतभाषायाः प्रसारणाय उन्नतिविधाय च सर्वदा नियोजिताः। अस्माकं संकल्पस्तावत् –
"संस्कृतस्य सेवनम् संस्कृताय जीवनम्
लोकहितसमृद्धये भवतु तनुसमर्पणम् ।" इति ।

Sanskrit is the life line of the spiritual consciousness of India. It is not merely a language. It gives the divine message of world peace and prosperity for human beings. The Department of Sanskrit proves itself as one of the leading departments of S.C.B.C College. It was initiated primarily as a teaching department for general course in 2006 and later it received affiliation to teach honours course in 2007. The department started with around 35 students who got admitted to the honours course. Now the department has 65 (sixty five) seats. At present, there are two Assistant Professors and Four State Aided College Teachers. Innovative pedagogy:

  The Teachers are trying to get students accustomed to the ICT class.
  To improve linguistic skills like speak, to read and write in Sanskrit well, we show various educational language learning short videos to them.
  In cultural events students are learning various kind of songs, recitations in Sanskrit version.
  We also distribute the study materials and provide e-resource to the students.
  In pandemic situation ,teachers try to give their lessons through online learning mode.

Future plan:

  UGC Sponsored Seminar will be organised by the department with eminent resource person.
  Departmental journal will be published on the basis of students’ various kind of needs.
  Each class room should be equipped for audio-visual lessons.
  A fully furnished modern departmental room is a dream for us where external scholars may share their knowledge with the department at least one or two days on a week.
  To take up projects like to edit and publish the rare and unpublished Sanskrit manuscripts.
  Preparation of reading material for classical texts in simple standard Sanskrit.
  Coaching classes for NET/SET Examination will be taken.
